The following is a timeline of key events depicted or mentioned throughout the course of Preacher. Some events may be out of sequence and are estimated to when they occur. Other events may be represented based on the recorded history from the real world.

- Jesus Christ fathers a child.
- Jesus Christ is crucified.
- The Grail is formed by Thaddeus to protect the blood line of Christ.
800's[]
- 28 January 814 - Charlemagne dies from Pleusiry, whom the Grail infected him with.
1800's[]
1861[]
- April 12, 1861 - American Civil war breaks out. During which, the Cowboy unleashes his wrath.
1865[]
- April 15, 1865 - Abraham Lincoln is assassinated by a Grail Operative.
1881[]
- A Cowboy's wife and daughter falls ill. The Cowboy seeks medicine but delays caused by MacReady makes him too late. The Cowboy returns to Ratwater and slaughters the entire city before being killed in a tornado.
1882[]
- Annville is established over the remains of Ratwater.
1900's[]
1939[]
- Adolf Hitler begins his conquest of Europe.
1945[]
- Adolf Hitler commits suicide and is damned to Hell.
1946[]
2000's[]
2014[]
- Carlos betrays Jesse and Tulip.
- Jesse returns to Annville to follow his father's footstep.
- Klaus Starr joins the Grail and immediately rises to leader of its Samson Unit.
2016[]
- Genesis breaks out and inhabits Jesse Custer.
- Jesse Custer calls Heaven and learns God has left Heaven. Begins his search for God with Tulip and Cassidy.
- Annville and all of its inhabitants were destroyed by an explosion caused by methane gas.
2017[]
- A floating pig catches the attention of the Grail. Klaus Starr poisons the pig and the village.
- Jesse forfeits 1% of his soul in order to make the Saint of Killers vulnerable to Genesis.
- Denis is bit by Cassidy, becoming a vampire in the process.
- Herr Starr calls off the hit on Jesse, attempting to use him as the messiah instead of Humperdoo.
